Feature Extractions From High Resolution Imagery And Using For City Information System
Nowadays, feature extraction technology is very important using with satellite imagery data. Today’s applications use these image data for many purposes. One of these is the automatic feature extraction from high resolution satellite imagery. In this context, automatic and manual object extraction and GIS are the most important issues. The goal here is to show the advantages and disadvantages of QuickBird and IKONOS imagery for extracting the object with automatic and manual measurements for City Information System (CIS). Firstly, automatic and manual extractions have been executed using pan-sharpened QuickBird and IKONOS images in Zonguldak urban test area. In this study, eCognition v4.0.6 and ArcGIS v9.2 software packages have been used for automatic and manual extractions analyses. Digital reference vector data has been obtained from large scale digital maps. Then, extracted results are compared with reference digital road database created from large scale digital maps in ArcGIS software package. Therefore, making GIS-based analyses, the availability of CIS updating has been tested using high resolution imagery.
